  1. This is a great recipe to get dinner on the table quickly. I was hesitant to use a tablespoon of each spice, but I tried it since the first reviewer didn't say anything about the spices. But, next time I will reduce the pepper to 1 teaspoon. The two things that I did change was to use a can of diced tomatoes (instead of a can of tomato juice), and I used a can of corn (instead of a can of Veg All mixed vegetables). I topped the soup with some Parmesan cheese. It is a recipe that I will make again. It's quick, easy, colorful, and healthy :)

  2. Shellbelle, thank you for a delicious low-fat meal that I served with hard rolls. I used 2 pints of the tomato juice I canned last year, 2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables and fresh oregano leaves. Made for *Healthy Choices ABC Tag 2009* game

Tweaks

  1. 3/17/2018: After making this again, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules will be the spices to use. The chicken bouillon granules add a bit more flavor and some salt. I had looked in my big cook book to see amounts of spices used for similar recipes. Another flavoring ingredient that was listed in the cook book that I might add in addition to these is 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce. Good recipe, but original spices are a bit too much :-)

  2. Tweaks: Reduce the pepper to 1 teaspoon, and use a can of diced tomatoes instead of tomato juice. If you don't have mixed vegetables, a can of corn works great!

RECIPE SUBMITTED BY

Before I joined Zaar, I could barely boil water properly. So, when someone compliments my cooking and asks me where I learned how to cook, I'm proud to say I learned from a cooking website and a few store-bought cookbooks. I have a black and white cat named Allie who is a little over 2 years old. She was adopted from the Humane Society. I really feel like we "rescued" her because she was sick when we got her and the Humane Society, as well-meaning as they are, just didn't have the resources to take care of her properly and she surely would have been euthanized. She is very healthy and happy now. She has tons of toys to play with, gets plenty of food and treats, gets to go out in the backyard to catch bugs and eat them, and someone is home with her almost all the time to cater to her every whim and fancy, lol. I don't have any children, Allie Cat is my baby, lol. I developed a serious, unrelenting crush on Colin Farrell after I saw him in a movie called "American Outlaws", and I have been in love with him ever since....... well, as much as you can "love" someone you've never met. I love t.v. and movies (always have) and I'm a huge fan of pop culture. Two of my favorite shows about pop culture are "Best Week Ever" on VH1 and "The Soup" on E!. Grease is my favorite movie of all time, followed in a close second by Forrest Gump. I came across this site by accident, I don't recall what recipe I was looking for, but I know that I found it and a whole lot more!
