"Credit for these fabulous cookies goes to the man known online as Ralf_Kramden. I got this recipe from him, and I've never gone back to "regular" chocolate chip cookies again."

  1. This is even better with 3/4 to 1 cup coconut!

  2. Wow!!! Really really wonderful cookies!!!!! I halved this recipe because I had just enough of all the chips and nuts to make half a batch. I came out with 33 cookies so I think the yield on this whole recipe would be more like 66 cookies!!!! I did the rounded teaspoon size too!! I baked one pan of cookies for the 10 minutes and I decided that was about a minute too long because they got more brown than I would like them. I think 9 minutes is the perfect baking time on these. I used pecans as my nuts and butterscotch chips and those were really great!! I had lots of oh my goshes and mmmmmmmm's serving these cookies so they were a definite hit!!!!!! It's the butterscotch chips that really make them sing so try to use them!! Thanks for the recipe!!

  3. Loved these cookies! I had everything on hand, surprisingly, and baked up a batch. They are delicious!

  4. I cannot believe that this recipe has been on Zaar for 5 years and yet no one has ever reviewed it!! You all are missing out! These cookies are FANTASTIC! A 10-star recipe all the way. Absolutely everyone who has tried one has raved about them. I made them exactly as written, using walnuts and peanut butter chips. Even though I think some various combinations of nuts and chips might be fun, make sure you don't omit the butter brickle pieces; they really add a unique dimension to these cookies. I will definitely be making them again! I would suggest checking them at 9 minutes since in my oven they were a bit overdone at 10 minutes. Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic recipe! I'm only sorry I didn't find it sooner!

Tweaks

  1. I decided to freeze some of them prebaked. So I scooped them out onto a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper, and then froze them until solid. Then transferred to a freezer bag to make it easier to break apart and bake later on!

I work as a professional stagehand for my local union (IATSE Local 26, West Michigan Stagehands), which takes me all over the state and lets me meet all sorts of interesting people. My primary training is in lighting and wardrobe, and I can be found backstage at everything from rock concerts to opera/ballet/symphony/Broadway tour performances to hockey games to corporate meetings and Presidential appearances. In June of 2005, my Local elected me to serve as a delegate to our International convention in mid-July, which was held in Honolulu. In November of 2008, I was elected to my third three-year term as Recording Secretary of my union local. Currently, I am the news poster for www.megatechnews, a computer tech site affiliated with several other tech sites. My biggest passion is union activism. The more I get involved, the more I want to be involved. I also read like a fiend and enjoy "discovering" local or regional bands at local clubs. Recently, I started making jewelry again after a more than ten-year hiatus. It started as a project for Christmas presents, but doing it reminded me how much I enjoy it, so I may be resurrecting my business soon. I never duplicate a piece, because the entire point is that I do custom work, and will take orders to suit. The pieces I have done are in a photo album on Facebook located here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=21364&id=1373365950&l=5be410742d
