  • Beat eggs with milk.
  • Stir in sugar, vanilla, orange juice, and salt until well combined.
  • Heat about 2 tsp.of butter in a skillet on medium-high heat.
  • Dip bread in egg mixture and lay in butter.(not you-the bread!).
  • Reduce heat to medium and cook bread a few minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • (My pan holds 2 pieces at a time.) Repeat with remaining bread, adding more butter to skillet, as needed.

  1. Great recipe. It's flexible enough to be made vegan too! I used Ener-g Egg Replacer, almond milk, and margarine and topped it with some maple syrup. Comfort food at it's finest. Thank you!

  2. GREAT recipe. Didnt use the melted butter. I did however butter each piece when finished and sprinkled cinnamon over the top. I will try the original directions next time. I am interested in the change. Very easy to make, everyone should try this recipe out. Im going to add it to my cookbook.

  3. Made this for our own champagne brunch this morning. I used a hearty whole grain bread and added a little cinnamon to the egg mixture...WOW! This was delicious! My DH gobbled up every last bite! Wonderful french toast recipe! Thanks!

  4. This is really the only recipe you need for basic french toasts. The orange juice gives it a nice flavor without being overpowering. Next time I think I'll add a pinch or two of ground cinnamon. Definitely a keeper!

  5. This was fantastic for how easy and simple it was! Loved the added touch of orange juice, it slightly comes through, very subtle, which I liked :) My son ate a ton and loved it! Yay :)

  3. This French toast had a wonderful texture and flavor. It was very quick, and simple to make. I'd been craving french toast for a few days, and after trying a serving of this, I am completely convinced I'll have these cravings more often. I halved the recipe, and substituted the orange juice for a little orange extract, and the sugar for splenda.

  4. Loved this!! I didn't have orange juice so I used 1/2 teaspoon orange extract instead. I also used Pepperidge Farm "French Toast brown sugar and cinnamon" bread. I made the whole loaf and reheated the leftovers for breakfast the next morning.

  5. I made this twice with Yogi's tasty bun recipe.. I made a loaf of that bread just to try out some new french toast recipes.. and I made this recipe for french toast..TWICE already... once with Orange Juice, and the other time using lemon juice instead of orange juice. Both times it was absolutely marvelous!!!!! When I made it with Lemon, I left out the vanilla.. and it was fabulous!!! :-) Thanks for the recipe!!!
