Gail's Sugared Vanilla Pretzels

- 1 cup softened butter or 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg yolk
- 1⁄2 cup sour cream
- 3 1⁄2 cups flour
directions
- Beat butter (or margarine) until creamy. Beat in white sugar. Mix in Vanilla, egg yolk, sour cream and flour. Mix well. (This will make a stiff dough, you may have to get your hands in there!).
- Chill in freezer for 20 minutes or so, break off pieces and roll on board sprinkled with raw sugar, until pencil thick and 9 inches long. NOTE: I rolled the dough (on a bare counter) into the specified size/shape and then roll the completed shape into the sugar, rather than rolling the sugar into the dough.
- Place on greased cookie sheet in pretzel shape.
