Hibachi Style Fried Rice

"Make at home, restaurant style fried rice. My daughter loves the fried rice you can get at expensive Japanese Hibachi style restaurants. I make this all the time for her and she loves it. I usually make it without the peas and carrots."

  1. Probably the easiest fried rice I've ever made. It's so simple but so good! It's best with leftover rice from the night before to really soak up that flavor. I can't wait to make it again!

  2. Absolutely easy and delicious to make. Can be very filling depending on the vegetables you add. Though the rice itself can be filling. It’s a great base or side with main dishes.

  3. I found this recipe a couple of years ago. I make it at least once per month. My kids love it. It's easy to make and goes great with teriyaki chicken. I usually add some minced garlic and a little sesame oil.

  4. Our local Shogun makes the absolute perfect fried rice. Agree with others that precook the rice and cool it down (put in fridge for a day even) before doing the fried rice. Also, we LOVE the spicy mustard sauce our local Shogun uses. Took me a while to find, but I HIGHLY SUGGEST S&B Oriental Hot Mustard POWDER (I buy it on Amazon) - it is the closest I've come to what the restaurant uses - everyone in my family likes EXTRA of this. Play with recipe as is on can and then tweak and adjust to your tastes.

  5. I make fried rice all the time - I grew up with it. Looked at your recipe and think it's pretty spot on. I usually add garlic with the onions, cooked bacon (torn up), scrambled eggs (can cook in the microwave for a few seconds, then break it up and add) and green onions. I also use sesame oil or vegetable oil. This recipe is so easy; you can add bite-size cooked chicken or shrimp to make it a one-pot meal.

Tweaks

  1. Instead of peas and carrots, I added kale and broccoli. Boiled some chicken and added some chicken stripes while cooking with the soy sauce. Added some garlic, that enhances the onion and overall flavor to the recipe.

  2. Fantastic! Need to add 2 TBSP minced garlic while sauteeing the onions and peas/carrots. My 15 month old will eat almost the whole pan when I make it! Also, I usually use green onions instead of white/yellow onions.
