  • In covered 6-quart saucepot or kettle, simmer 2 cups apple cider, water, cloves, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon sticks for 10 minutes.
  • Add remaining apple cider and brown sugar; heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
  • Keep warm, do not boil.
  • Serve in cups or mugs.
  • Garnish with cinnamon stick.

  1. This recipe was a geat start! The only things that I added to it were a sprinkling of ground cloves (which gives it a lot more flavor) as well as orange and lemon peelings; they blend nicely with the apple cider. Otherwise this recipe is GREAT!

  3. I served this with appetizers on Christmas eve. It was a warm and welcome treat for everyone. A great drink for those chilly winter nights. --- I prepared the first step of the recipe on the stovetop and for "Step 2", I put it all into a crock pot and let it continue steeping. Gave the house a spicy, holiday scent all afternoon. Another change I made: I used ground allspice, because I didn't have the spice whole. Don't think it made a difference, but next time I'll try it with the whole allspice. Thanks for posting.
