"This is the best apple cake my mom used to make with the apples from our backyard. This is a very forgiving recipe. It can take a variety of apples and a range of quantities. It is quick and delicious."

- Preheat oven at 375°F.
- Layer apples in a greased pan (9x13).
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Mix soft butter and milk. Add to dry ingredients. Combine well.
- Mix egg, milk and vanilla. Add to batter mixture and combine well.
- Pour batter over apples.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
