Karl's Favorite Cucumbers

"My brother-in law eats these like candy. Every summer meal has them on the table. The other guys in the family like them too. They're crisp and sour. We usually double the recipe."

  1. I love this recipe, very easy to make. I don't think it is possible to make too much, it doesn't seem to last long enough.

  2. Yummy!! I doubled the recipe based on the reviews and am I ever glad I did!! I served this with BBQ and baked potatoes and it was great!! Very "refreshing" - a different type of side dish! I might also recommend trying this with regualr vinegar as well. I added a bit more black pepper and next time I may try it with balsamic vinegar for a different taste. Thanks for another great recipe!!

  3. Inez, you must be a "Southern" girl. My Mom and Grandmother have made this dish for a long, long time. It is so good with crispy cucumbers and crispy onions. When I make it, I double or triple the vinegar dressing and keep it in a container. When we serve this, all I have to do is slice the veggies to put in. I usuallly add a bit more black pepper. This one is a goldmine!!! The tart vinegar and water mixture is great.

  4. Wow these are so good and easy to make. I used regular vinegar and a lot more pepper. The sweetness of the onion and the sourness of the vinegar is a great combo too. With these pickles and Berg's freezer pickles, who needs Bicks??

  5. Inez, these are fabulous and reminds me of a similar recipe my Dad makes. I also doubled the recipe and added more pepper. This definitely has positive pucker power. Yummmmmy!! I have an abundance of garden fresh cukes. This is a great way to use them. Thanks!!

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
