  1. Quick easy and delicious! I used Dauerwurst smoked sausage (Dutch) similar to Kielbasa. Love the touch of caraway . I only cooked the cabbage for 10 minutes - perfect - it still had a crunch. Thanks Inez

  2. I love this recipe. It's fast, simple and totally delicious. I was surprised at what a great flavor the cabbage has. First time I made it I didn't have the caraway and it was still good!

  3. Super easy and super tasty!! There are just days when you don't care to cook and this solves that issue in the blink of an eye. Will make this again and again!

  4. I came home and found my daughter had made this exactly as written except without caraway seeds. I took a bite and it was wonderful. Just like my mom used to make, but wait a minute, another bite, hold on, another bite. Yep, I grabbed the black pepper shaker and sprinkled more in my bowl. That's the spot. My mother made it this way, but spicier with more black pepper. What a wonderful recipe, and I'm so glad to be able to make something just like my mom used to make. Thank you for the recipe Inez.

  5. Made for 2013 Zaar Cookbook tag game and DH and I really enjoyed this. I did add some slivered onion to the cabbage while cooking and like Bergy I only cooked the cabbage for about 10 minutes. I also used turkey kielbasa and DH is ready for more. Thank you for sharing.

  1. Really good. We are watching fat so cut butter in half. Layered turkey sausage, onion, and cabbage in Dutch oven. After sautéing a few minutes, added 1/2 cup of vegetable stock and covered and let steam until cabbage was soft. Delicious!

  2. Really easy to make! I used turkey kielbasa, Lawry's seasoned salt, and coriander instead of caraway seeds. I turned down to low heat for the remaining 7 minutes of the 15 minutes because my cabbage was near done by then. Really liked this recipe, thanks!

  3. A great recipe that I make a lot. I've also made it using sauerkraut instead of fresh cabbage.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
