Lady Bird Johnson's Barbeque Sauce

"Butter is a traditional ingredient in old Southern-style barbecue sauces and it's responsible for a lot of flavor here. This is a thin, tasty sauce that both goves over the meat while it's being grilled and gets passed at the table, warm."

  1. I had this recipe since the '8o's. While I like traditional bbq sauce as well, this one is a pleasant change of pace because it's not sweet. We put too sugar in things as it is, so this fits the bill for me. It's also simple to make.

  2. The vinegar taste in this is STRONG! It really caught me off-guard. I added some honey and brown sugar which helped, but next time I'll cut the vinegar in half.
