Lazy Beef and Gravy Casserole

"A delicious gravy forms during the cooking of this very easy and tender beef dish. (I got this recipe out of the American Heart Association Cookbook back in the '80's and have made it many, many times. I like the long cooking time because I can get so many other things done while the meat is cooking. (I would imagine it could be done in a crockpot, but I have never done it.)"

  1. You weren't kidding about the delicious gravy, were you? It was very, very good! The addition of the bread crumbs and flour was interesting and really effective. I doubled the recipe, and was glad I did, because everyone had seconds. I served it over wide egg noodles and it was enjoyed all around. Thanks for posting!

  2. I have been using this recipe 30+ years, it is amazing and delicious, in fact this what my daughter wants every year for her birthday. We all love it.

  3. I have been making this recipe several times a year from my old yellowed (40 or so years old) AHA cookbook. I have served it to many people and have never found anyone who didn't devour it! I do it on Low in the crock-pot for eight hours, and serve it on white rice. I leave out the pepper and let folks season it to their taste at the table.

Hello Everyone After a couple of years of using many, many recipes off this wonderful web-site, I finally decided to sign on. I am a retired widow living in the St. Petersburg area of Florida. I grew up in Minnesota and lived 30 years in the Boston area before moving to Florida 17 years ago. I was a commercial real estate broker. After my husband passed away I switched gears and became a cruise agent (it was a tough job, but somebody has to do it-LOL). I really enjoyed the traveling and meeting many new people. I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren and I am very fortunate that they live in this area and I get to see them often. My favorite pastimes are reading, walking (usually with my dog), and cooking. My pet peeve is crabby people!
