directions

  • Take your bar of soap (we use Dove or store brand like it, because it's more moisturizing), and grate it with a cheese grater.
  • Pour the water and grated soap into a microwaveable container and cook on high for 3 min.
  • Remove and stir until all soap bits have melted (put in a bit longer, if needed).
  • Let it cool, then pour into pumps (leftover from store bought liquid soap), and the remainder in any container with a lid.

  1. I tried this using one of the many soap-free cleansing bars I have on hand. While the result does a great job cleansing, it didn't thicken and is way too thin to be satisfactory. I am going to try it using half the water. Again, I had problems because I used a soap-free bar. Use soap and you'll be fine.

  2. This is how I make liquid soap when I run out of it;) A very nice recipe, easy and a good clone of the real liquid soap!

  3. Absolutely terrific! I used some old ivory soap bars, and followed the directions exactly. What a really nice method, and certainly one heck of a lot cheaper then buy Liquid Soap. Thank you so much for posting!

  4. I also used a glycerin soap. I never used to buy liquid hand soap because I couldn't afford my boys wasting it, but now I can make it and they can begin to learn to use only what they need without throwing many dollars' worth of soap down the drain. Thanks for posting!

  5. I did this with a glycerin bar of soap and it worked great. Thanks!
