Liverwurst Sandwich

"My dad and I made up this sandwich one afternoon when I was a kid because we were the only ones in the house that liked liverwurst. Don't eat this if you don't want to offend anyone with your bad breath!"

  1. I love this sandwich. You haven't lived until you try spreading peanut butter on the second slice of toast. Yum

  2. Liverwurst, Limburger cheese, onion, mustard on rye. My dad uses to eat these all the time. Warning: You might clear out the room with the smell of the Limburger cheese. Totally delicious though.

  3. I tried it toasted with Mayo but i like my Grandmother's version a whole lot better..just take the Pumpernickel bread right out of the package, spread a tiny bit of butter on both sides ( or 1 ) of the bread, spread the liverwurst and add some mustard! No toasting of the fresh Pumpernickel bread needed!! Yum!!!

  4. and my dad! except no butter, less onion, add some dill pickle! it's really good on black bread, too! YUM. Yum! Thanks for posting!

  5. I laughed when I read this I have not had liverwurst in years. In my mothers home (grandma and grandpas for me) the main large meal was in the middle of the day, when it became dark we had what I called lunch and these little sandwiches were on a platter along with other sandwiches. I do remember though grandma left some with out onions for me. I am going to the store for some liverwurst now Thank you for the memories.

I come from a very Polish family with 5 brothers and a sister. I love to cook just about anything Polish and I'm pretty good at cleaning out the refridgerator and making something worth eating. Just got married on 07/07/07, so I would love to get some Just for 2 dinner menus. Finally enjoying the wonderful California weather. I haven't started baking, but I'm really excited to get back into the contests here. <br> <br><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/adopted_1_1.jpg border=0 alt=Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/beartag_1_1.jpg border=0 alt=Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting> <br><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/projects/200_PACpic.jpg border=0 alt=Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket> <img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/projects/pacbanner.jpg border=0 alt=Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket> <br><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/Adopted1smp.jpg border=0 alt=Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/smPACp.jpg border=0 alt=Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket> <br><img src=http://www.recipezaar.com/members/home/1535/CLC2.gif> <br> <br><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg border=0 alt=Photobucket><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg border=0 alt=Photobucket> <br> <br>
