directions

  • Toast bagels. Make more noise than necessary so your manbeast knows you are totally irritated.
  • Spread cream cheese on the four bagel halves.
  • Layer on top of cream cheese the lox slices.
  • Place one poached egg on top of lox slices.
  • Pour Hollandaise sauce (I use this simple recipe Recipe #156420) over all.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped dill.
  • Smugly serve with attitude and tell manbeast to shut up.
  • Note: Of course this is much higher in fat than the nutritional analysis indicates because of the butter in the hollandaise sauce.

  1. Wow, wow, wow. Even without the dill, wow. What a great recipe Pot Scrubber. I cn't believe I waited so long to try it. I love smoked salmon and eggs and this wonderful recipe does not disappoint. It was quick and easy to make with amazing results. The flavor, was perfect with excellent textures. The salmon is the star of the show in this dish. I will be enjoying this again and again. I took your recommendation and made Quick Blender Hollandaise, it was so easy and turned out great. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipe. Kudos on making it into my Best of Cookbook for 2015.

  2. I have a manbeast, too, who ate TWO servings of this. Made with homemade lox (http://www.recipezaar.com/Gravlax-57029) and the hollandaise you suggested. GAH! We staggered away from the table.

  3. Ok-- I adore lox and bagels, but I love the story and the narrative just as much as the recipe. This was SOOO decadent--Who woulda thunk to put hollandaise with cream cheese--I'm loving the combo. I did use capers instead of dill, though

  4. This was so amazing, and it appeared to everyone that I spent hours in the kitchen, when it really took just minutes to prepare this dish. I realized too late that I was out of bagels, so subbed in a thick heavy rye bread and it worked just fine. I used a simple lemon buerre-blanc with dill for my sauce and then sprinkled a little more dill on top. I wished I had fresh dill, but alas, I had only dried. But it still worked out just fine. My manbeast declared it the best breakfast he has had in a very long time, so that translates into "Make this more often!" Thanks for posting this Potsie Dear, you always make me look good in the kitchen! :)
