Maduros

"I think I found this in a newspaper. It's one of the easiest recipes I have and takes only a few minutes to make. The plaintains should be somewhat soft with black spots on the skin for these to come out right."

  1. A great, simple recipe for maduros - they come out just like in a restaurant. (Hint: I use ice tongs to flip them because they're slippery little suckers!) Thanks for the recipe!

  2. I also never had a plantain before but I saw some in my store today and I was feeling daring (lol), so I picked one up. This was a very new, but good taste to me. I really enjoyed cooking with this new ingredient as well as eating it. Thanks for opening my cooking horison!

  3. Another whole new experience for me ~ I'd never even purchased plantains before! They are rather bland, but my taste buds can accept that, & as 'dipper' into salsa or chocolate fudge or sour cream [what can I say, I enjoy exploring!] they are a great addition to my finger foods buffet! Perhaps my fruit wasn't as ripe as it should have been, but I thought the sugar was needed! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Delicious! Though I have to say that the sugar is totally unnecessary and redundant, given how sweet a thoroughly ripe plantain is. I enjoy eating these with salsa and sour cream on top. Mmm...
