Marvelous M&m Bars

"This has been one of my favorite cookie recipes since I was a kid. I can't believe I forgot to post it on Zaar until now. I saw quite a few similar recipes when I searched, but none that were made as bar cookies. The original recipe was for drop cookies, but my mom adapted it long ago. These just melt in your mouth. Obviously, the serving size depends upon the size of your bars. I just happened to cut them into 32 pieces last night. Enjoy!"

  1. I made these for an Easter event and used the pastel Easter M & Ms and they look great! The same could be done at Christmas, Valentine's Day or the 4th of July with colors that correspond with those holidays.

  2. Made these for a field trial held by our Gordon Setter Club and these were a big hit. I made two pans of them and there weren't any left over. Thanks!

  3. These were very good. I used smart balance margarine instead of shortening. I used chocolate chips in the bars and m&m's on top(I didn't have enough m&m's) I took them to are high school youth group and they were gone in a flash. Thanks!

  4. Very tasty. Thank you for sharing.

I'm a real estate agent in the lovely city of Rochester, New York. That's not what I expected to do with my life. I got my bachelor's in psychology, my masters in literacy education, and I taught high school special education for two years. Then I discovered that helping people find the homes of their dreams was my real passion. I've been doing it for over two years now and still absolutely love my career. Other than that, I have a very spoiled Border Collie mix named Bear that I adopted from a local shelter in spring '08. He's gorgeous and fun and brings me great joy. Now if only I could find a man like that... LOL!
