  1. Combine sugar, cocoa, and milk in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat until reaches softball stage (238 degrees).
  3. Do not stir unless it threatens to burn!
  4. Remove from stove and add butter and vanilla.
  5. Beat with a mixer for 5 to 6 minutes, then add peanut butter and pecans.
  6. Spread into a lightly butter 9x13 pan.
  7. Chill until firm, about 2 hours.
  8. Cut into 1" squares.
