Microwaved Caramel Dumplings

  • To make dumplings: Rub butter into the flour and then add sugar, milk& vanilla essence.
  • Mix well and set aside while making the sauce.
  • To make the sauce: Place butter, water& brown sugar in a 2L microwave safe casserole dish and cook on high for 6 mins.
  • Drop Tablespoons of batter mix into the hot sauce and cook on Medium for 6 mins.
  • Leave to stand in hot sauce for another 5 mins.
  • Serve with whipped cream&/or vanilla ice-cream.

  1. MMM Good. The sauce reminds me of my grandma's apple dumpling sauce. I think the sauce would be good on ice cream without dumplings!
     
  2. Easy to make and the boyfiend gobbled his up and licked the bowl clean, but it was too sweet for me. I should have read Jewelies review and made them smaller.
     
  3. So easy to make. I prepared the 'separate' dumplings and sauce mix before dinner then all I had to do was put it into the microwave to cook. My microwave is only about a 750watt so I used a wide bowl and made the dumplings alot smaller. Amazing how these dumplings "grow" even when you put them into the hot sauce! Ended up cooking about 10 minutes (checking at 2 min intervals after the 6 min). Thanks Jen, a keep for us :)
     
  4. This was an easy recipe to make. Far better the standing over the stove and stirring the sauce. My guys loved it. It will be going in the family favourite recipes I am putting together for DD and DS. Thank you for posting at Zaar.
