Mock Clotted Cream

"I've been using this one since found online a few years back. Nothing can replace true clotted cream but still, this is a very good substitute."

  • Fold vanilla into sour cream. Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form the fold in the sugar. Fold this mixture into the sour cream/vanilla mixture.

  1. I have never tried real clotted cream before, but this was amazing! I served this with homemade cinnamon scones and strawberries...it tasted just like strawberry shortcake! YUM!
     
  2. I really loved this recipe, it was so easy and it tasted great. It was ready when I was. I added homemade vanilla that had seeds in it...so good in this. The cream was perfection, really enjoyed the thickness, creaminess and flavor. It was so silky, just perfect in my strawberry parfaits. I garnished with a vanilla bean and coarse sugar combo. Thank you so much for sharing a new favorite.
     
  3. I have never had clotted cream before, so I have nothing to compare this to. I thought this recipe was soooooooo yummy. It was very fast and easy to whip up. I served it over fresh strawberries and loved the slight tanginess of the sour cream with the sweetness of the whipped cream. Made for a very elegant and delicious topping.   4. It IS difficult to replicate cotted cream; when I lived in Cornwall where the cream originates from, I used to enjoy it with scones and jam for a traditional cream tea! This does not taste like clotted cream, but it is a VERY good sub and the texture and colour was great, almost like the orginal! I served the cream with fresh strawberries, and it was wonderful. Thanks for the this nifty little cheat's recipe Julie! FT:-) NB: I used creme fraiche in place of sour cream which is not easily available in France.
