1 double layer cake
ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups flour
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 1⁄4 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1⁄2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1⁄2 cups mashed very ripe bananas
directions
- Cream shortening; add eggs and sugar.
- Alternate adding bananas and milk (reserve 1/2 cup bananas).
- Add flour and dry ingredients.
- Add vanilla.
- Bake in greased cake pans at 250° for 1 hour 20 minutes.
- Spread reserved bananas between layers.
- Frost with any cream cheese frosting when cool.
