Mom's Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

"Mom has made these every year since I was young for christmas morning. These are really delicious and raise up so high. My brother and I still look forward to them, even though we aren't at home anymore. She had asked me to post these so others could enjoy them too."

  1. Make sure you read the directions carefully. At the beginning she tells you to Add about 1 cup of sugar and some cinnamon (your tastes) and 1/2 stick of melted butter. I use 1/2 c butter 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup of cinnamon but we love cinnamon. The water is in Step 2.-Add yeast to water. Most bakers do this to their yeast before adding to bread to prove that it is active. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing. :)

  2. The Recipe instructions are redundant and misleading. Cinnamon filling oozes out of the roll during baking. You need more liquid in dough than recipe calls for. I would like to re-do this recipe, but with some changes.

  3. My DH made this and they turned out nicely. There was some confusion in the recipe about adding the water, but they turned out well anyway. They didn't rise as fluffy as we'd have liked, but that may be user error!

  4. This recipe turned out great! The rolls raised up HUGE and the only thing my boyfriend said was I should double the filling. Great Recipe! Thanks!

  5. The recipe jumps around and is missing steps. It never says to put in the 3/4 cup of water and it tells you to make the cinnamon/sugar a couple times (but doesn't list it in the ingredients). I added some milk to the dough because it was very crumbly and wouldn't hold together. The kids loved them, but I thought they tasted more like biscuits with sugar added.
