“I have always hated tomato based sauces (even ketchup) until my neighbor had us over for dinner and served this. Makes a huge batch so I generally use half for spaghetti and then make lasagna's with the rest.”

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Heat olive oil over medium low heat and sauté onion until soft and just starting to caramelize. Add garlic and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 more minutes.
  2. Add meat and stir to break up slightly - no need to cook through.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and stir constantly for 5 minutes to break up the meat more thoroughly.
  4. Cook over low heat for 4-6 hours stirring every 15 minutes the first hour and then once or twice an hour after that.
  5. Add additional salt to taste - I have also added extra dried Italian herbs, garlic and onion powder to punch up those flavors.
