Oatmeal and Apple Butter Bars

"This is one of my newly adopted recipes. I tossed this together tonight while fixing dinner. Very quick and easy dessert. I used regular apple butter, but no added sugar apple butter could be used as well. "

  1. This was good. I used pumpkin butter because that's what I had. I'm looking forward to trying it with apple butter! I bet that is even better. I'm thinking apple butter and maybe a very thin layer of apples too. Thanks for sharing. I'll definately make this again.

  2. This is a solid five. My boyfriend really loves these and so does anyone that tries them. I make my own crockpot applesauce butter for this recipe. I have made them with other butters as well and they are all good. Thanks for posting this recipe.

  3. I had some homemade apple butter that was going bad and needed to be used up. I decided to give this recipe a try. It was totally delicious! I had to use some steel cut oats mixed with quick oats because I didn’t have what the recipe called for and it still turned out. I also added some walnuts on top for extra crunch. Warmed it in the microwave with some whip cream on top for a tasty fall treat.

  4. We loved these! Will make again.... might add pecans next time, but they're great like just like the recipe. However, I did cook them longer.

  5. This recipe was amazing! I tried it for my first time, and boy, was it delicious. Every one loved them! I like how it's crumbly and chewy at the same time. Definitely recommend it!

Tweaks

  1. Wow. The first time I made this, I had some Muesli mix to use up, so I used that instead of the oats, and it was good, but I just made it again with plain oats, and used brown sugar instead of white sugar, and homemade crockpot pumpkin butter, and it's delicious!!!!

  2. Very good bars! I used peach butter since that is what I had on hand and also used brown sugar in place of the white sugar. Smelled delicious and tasted that way too. Thanks for the recipe!

  3. This was pretty good. I made this in a 8 inch square pan as I don't have a 9 inch. I used 1/2 cup of honey instead of the sugar. This made the mixture more gooey than crumbly, but I used it anyways. It took about ten minutes longer for the top to get brown, maybe because it was thicker, maybe because it was honey, I'm not sure. The oatmeal mixture turned out really yummy. I don't think I added enough apple butter and cinnamon as I could barely taste either. But I love this idea and plan on making it again! Thanks!
