  1. Sift dry ingredients.
  2. Mix eggs, vanilla and milk well.
  3. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually. Once sugar is incorporated add 1/3 of the egg and milk then 1/3 of the dry ingredients alternately. Once all incorporated, fold in fruit and nuts and rolled oats.
  4. Drop dough by small spoonfuls on buttered cookie sheets (or cookie sheet lined with parchment) leaving a little space for the cookies to puff up.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes.
