Oreo Crunch Bars

- 34 Oreo cookies, divided
- 1⁄4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, melted
- 1 (7 1/2 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
- 1⁄2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1⁄3 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
directions
- Coarsely chop 8 cookies; set aside.
- Finely crush remaining 26 cookies.
- Mix finely crushed cookies and butter in bowl.
- Press firmly in bottom of greased 8x8x2 inch or 9x9-inch baking pan.
- Place marshmallow creme over crust to within 1/2 inch of edges.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and chopped cookies over marshmallow layer, pressing gently.
- Bake at 350° for 15 to 18 minutes or until marshmallow creme puffs slightly.
- Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
- Cut into triangles or squares to serve.

These were wonderful and very rich. I needed to make a larger amount so I used a 9 X 13 pan and only added a few additional choch chips but since the bars are soooooo rich not sure the extras were really needed. Next time i would also use mini marshmallows just for ease. Thanks for posting our new favorite (and EASY) treat. -

Delicious! And so easy...well the spreading of the marshmallow creme was somewhat difficult, but I think it has more to say about the baker than the recipe. No nuts, but tasty still the same.

Yum! I made these for my Christmas baked goodies trays. I doubled the recipe, baked it in a 9" X 13 " pan, and sprinkled some green and red nonpareils to the top of them just before baking make them a tad more festive. They are chewy and choco-licious!

I am married and mother of 3 wonderful children. I have a 21 year old daughter and 19 year old twins, a boy and a girl. The picture above is of my granddaughter Destiny born April 5, 2007. She was a preemie and weighed 1 lb. 14 oz. at birth. She spent 73 days in NICU in the hospital She has came a long way and was 11 months and a little over 19 pounds when the picture was taken. She shows no problems at all now and is truly a miracle and I thank God for her. She is already Nana's little girl. I have a wonderful husband who is very honest with me about any dish I prepare. He is my best critic as I am sure most husbands tend to be. I love trying new recipes and love to cook. I love Taste of Home cookbooks. I like to do counted cross-stitch and recently I have rediscovered a lost love of mine; reading, especially mysteries. I can get lost in a good book for hours. Weather permitting my hubby and I like to ride on his Harley. Nothing like it! If I had a month off with no responsibilities I would travel. Love the beach!!! My dream is to retire and for my hubby and I to travel to all the places I would like to see.
