Oven Baked White Rice, Perfect Every Time!

"This recipe makes perfect rice every time, simply because the temptation to stir isn't there. This foolproof rice goes well with roasted chicken or broiled fish. I sometimes like to add a 1/2 cup of shredded carrots in addition to the onion to give it a flash of color."

  1. Ive never been able to make rice. I bake my own bread, make my own pasta dough, pizza dough, bbq sauces and marinades. I can cook just about anything but rice. Mine always turns out mushy, slightly crunchy, or both somehow. This recipe is perfect as is. Ill add beans or diced tomatoes with salsa and chiles depending on the main dish, but 24 mins plus 5 mins resting time and its always perfect. I double the recipe and use the leftovers for fried rice or arancini. Thank you for this recipe!

  2. Perfect rice which halves perfectly. I added onion, garlic, and mushrooms. I used a chicken bouillion cube to the simmering water. The rice was done in 20 minutes, and it is delicious!

  4. While this may be tasty, all you've done with this recipe is complicate the rice making process. Is it Oven Baked Rice, Stove Top Rice OR Stove Top Started - Oven Finished Rice???

Tweaks

  1. Just made this today and it was very good. I used garlic instead of onions since I have picky eaters here. I will make this again.

  2. I do like this rice too. Being a vegetarian, I substituted the chicken stock with Maggi vegetable stock. I did not add the 1/4 tsp. of salt because the stock that I used already contains salt and the taste was fine without requiring any more in addition. I garnished this with some fresh parsley{chopped} and it went off very well for lunch with everyone at home. Thanks for posting!

  3. This rice is delicious! I made it with the olive oil instead of the butter and i also added shredded carrots. I made this to go with BBQed chicken and plain wheat bread and butter. It went perfect with it. Thank you, Carla.
