I have tried so many different sauce recipes out there. From America's Test Kitchen to Emeril to Cooking Light. They all were missing something and I had to keep looking. Well, as of today, my search is over! This recipe is perfect in taste and consistency. I double the batch and freeze it or use as dip for breadsticks. It is truly as good as storebought. Oh, it's also great with 1/4 tsp onion powder.

Had made this a few weeks ago but wasn't able to use the Tomato Puree so I did the makeshift version. Just got the Hunts Tomato Puree a couple days ago and took the 2 containers out of my tiny fridge freezer last night to thaw. Added the one 10.5 ounce can of puree and 2 tablespoons of Wholesome Organic Blue Agave. Will simmer this revised batch for about three hours. UPDATE: Making a new batch but eliminated the agave. Used one can of the Hunts Tomato Puree, 1 14.5 oz. can fire roasted tomatoes pureed in blender; 1 6 oz. can tomato paste; 8 oz. water, doubled the herbs, lemon juice and sugar + olive oil because of the added fluid and concentrate. Made a total of 40 oz. At 1/2 cup portion per serving, calorie total 112.
