Better Recipe: 1 large can crushed pineapple pour in a pyrex pan, Spread evenly dry yellow cake mix over pineapple, add coconut evenly over the cake mix, add walnut pieces over coconut. Pour 2 sticks melted butter over entire mixture. Bake 30 min. 350 This comes out just beautifully. The top is crunchy and the bottom is moist. Excellent. You won't fail. And it looks and smells wonderful. This recipe comes

It looks and smells good enough to take to a potluck--and I snitched a tiny spoonful in th corner to make sure it tastes OK. It is, but still a bit on the dry side. After reading reviews and looking at the dry mix, I addeded all the juice from a second can of pineapple (we will eat the pineapple later). About 20 mins into baking I patted down the uneven and dry spots with a fork. About 10 minutes later there were still dry patches so I melted another 1/2 stick (1/4 c) butter and drizzled those spots. Without the added butter and juice this would be a flop. It may work better with crushed pineapple instead of chunks. Also, I omitted the nuts. It was so easy to make--no mixing, stirring, extra dishes, etc. Will try it again. Not bad for a dessert that isn't chocolate.
