  1. It says 5 slices of bread, and says 12 servings???? Seems like a very small serving.

  1. This was very good, Barbara. DH and I loved it with our roasted chicken. I'm glad I have leftovers! We're going to try it with ham and pork also. I'd love to try it wrapped in big slices of ham, cut into bite sized pieces and served as finger food at a party. Thanx!

  2. If you check my about me page you'll see that my family makes me make this all the time. Made it for our Fire Co. Pig Roast and people actually said that they will only come this year if I promise to make it again!!

  3. This recipe was given to me and I now make it every Christmas. It is easy to make, tastes good hot or cold, served with ham, chicken and turkey . I actually would eat it with just about anything. Here in Pa it is a well known served dish, but, it is new to me and I love the combination of the tartness and sweetness together. Yum Yum!

  4. This is awesome - its one of my families favorite things and I lost my recipe - I'll be making this for them on Easter - it is fabulous with baked ham.

  5. Fantastic!! I made this for the first time for Christmas dinner to serve with ham. It was amazing. It was so good that I have made it 5 times since then, and it's only January 3rd! My family loves it, and I swear that I could eat it every single day (I almost have!). I have tweaked it a bit... I add a small sprinkling of light brown sugar on top, right before I put it in the oven. The brown sugar gives it a nice light crunch, and I love it, love it, love it!! I am so happy we decided to try a new side for our Christmas ham, I don't know how I lived so long without this wonderfully delicious recipe!

  3. Yum! I roasted a chicken tonight for the first time ever and went all out with potatoes and stuffing. I'm so glad I chose this recipe! I noticed at the last minute that it serves 12, and since there is only two of us, I halved the recipe - sort of. I used a whole can of pineapple and hamburger buns instead of bread. I also added ground sausage meat once all of the other ingredients were mixed up. The taste was outstanding - it really boosted my cooking confidence! In fact I enjoyed it more than the chicken! Can't wait to finish off the pan for lunch tomorrow. Next time I may even make the whole recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Zaar...Wow, what a place! I'm one of the old timers of Zaar. I can't count the number of wonderful dishes I cooked in the past few years since joining. Along the way I have had the pleasure of meeting several Zaar chefs. Talk about your fruits and nuts! lol. I have enjoyed meeting them all. Family: What's to say...I have had the same sweet husband forever (Good thing....I'd hate to have to break a new one in...=) and live close to a couple of grown children. (Maybe you've met Smoke Alarm Jr. ..her brown rolls are sooo good!) Therefore, my family gets together often to enjoy each other's company and cooking. My greatest joy is six "little to tallerthanme" kids running around calling me Grammy. They wear me out! lol For the past thirty years I have been a Special Education teacher for grades 9-12 and love it. Took some time off last year to recovery from surgery, chemotherapy and radiation for breast cancer. (Loved the radiation....I keep imagining that we are absolutely napalming the nasty cancer cells tohellandback to keep the little suckers from returning. =) My prognosis is good and now "I'm back in the saddle again". lol. Being a north country "gurl", I am happiest outside...walking, fishing, sitting in front of an outdoor fire or being on water (although in February it's a bit stiff....=0) When indoors I like to read, garden, knit, quilt and paint. During cold Maine weather I like to warm my feet on a very large ( 100 pounds of long legs and huge feet), sweet and furry golden retriever named Kerry (aka KTBRD: Kerry the big red dawg..lol) . In the summer, the dawg and I round up the grandkids, hit the local dairy bar for a Mounds Sundae that is to die for!!!=0) . Then spend a lot of long and lazy summer days at camp . All in all...Boy, Life is good! =)
