1. These are real good. They are nice fluffy corn muffins. They actually remind me quite a bit of Jiffy brand corn muffins. It took about 1 1/2 cups of popped popcorn, whirred in my blender, to yield just over 3/4 cup of ground popcorn. There's a light buttery flavor to the muffins. The texture was great but they didn't knock our socks off as being overly exciting. The addition of corn kernels, or shredded cheese, or maybe garlic & onion or something would really jazz them up.

 2. These are always something fun to make for whimsy. This is the same recipe as published in a 193 Searchlight Cookbook, although on page 41, the amount of baking powder is 3 teaspoons. A Magic Bullet or coffee grinder comes in handy for making the ground popped corn. :-) Thank you for sharing your results.

 3. Fun ! I had a bag of Kettle Corn from our local Market Days yesterday so I gave this a try. Doubled this- came out fine- did stick to paper muffins wrappers a little- but very good- something different. Would make again !

 4. FUN!!! Lots of fun! This recipe is a playful baking experience and one the kids will enjoy being included in. I made a mountain of hot-air popcorn then per SaraFish's suggestion chopped it in the food processor. I ground enough to make about a cup and left the pieces different sizes to see what the texture would be like. This allowed tons of popcorn left for us to snack on as the muffins baked!! The muffins turned out light and fluffy with a nice buttery, sweet/salty taste. I used brown sugar and added a bit more than a single tablespoon...I think I had it in my head that that would give a hint of a caramel quality to the taste. This recipe was great as is and would be even more fun to play with some...you could think of different popcorn flavors such as cheddar, hot and spicy or kettle corn and try to achieve that with what you add to the mix! I used foil muffin cups which I never do because we wanted them to "travel" and I ended up with 8 nice sized muffins from the first batch. Then my husb. wanted to add nuts and chocolate chips to a second batch and I ended up with 6 big muffins (no cups used there...DH wanted those all for himself!!) Popcorn and muffins!! What could be more fun!!!

 5. Very good! Just don't use self rising flour I did and it was too salty but it worked well in my pinto beans. I used splenda also and omited the butter. I just sprayed some calorie free flavoring on afterwards. Yumm!

I live in Pa (outside of Philadelphia) and cooking, baking, cross-stitching and reading are my hobbies.

I collect cookbooks and cookie stamps/cutters and have a pretty big collection of both. I am also a fan of all things Amish, so I have quite a collection of things picked up in Reading, Lancaster and surrounding areas here in Pennsylvania.

I have 4 kids, who are the loves of my life and cooking for them and my husband keeps me on my toes! ;)

We bought an ice cream parlor in March 04 and it's been quite an experience!

Note: I love getting feedback on my recipes; all I ask is that you actually *make* them before reviewing them.

Also, if you make changes or substitutions, I'd love to see your suggestions and/or comments, but I'd appreciate no rating at all if it's not made as posted. Too many recipe reviews state margarine subbed for butter (if I list butter, it's REAL butter), different spices, low-fat ingredients, whole wheat flour instead of white, etc. The recipes will not work/taste as intended, so it's really not fair to rate them as such.

I'd also really appreciate it if you refrain from rating a recipe if you overcook or overbake it or it you don't refrigerate or store as listed.

I, of course, will adhere to the above when rating recipes, too!

Thanks and have a great day!

My Rating System:

***** A delicious recipe that was thoroughly enjoyed. It has excellent, detailed directions and is perfect as is. If a dish is especially easy, and I'm on the fence, I will give it 5* for ease even if it's very good instead of great. Something I will definitely make again.

**** Excellent recipe but confusing directions that I will make again in my own less confusing way OR Very good recipe that I'll probably make again if I find the time!

*** Good/OK recipe but probably not something I would make again OR Very Good recipe that doesn't have clear, detailed directions.

** Recipe was edible but not really enjoyed and will not be made again. Work involved not a good trade-off for the end result.

* Not edible and probably an error in the recipe. I feel that I pick recipes with ingredients our family likes, so in my opinion, there's an error somewhere. If there's a chance I made the error, I won't rate the recipe. ;)
