directions

  • brown pork chops in pressure cooker on both sides (use tongs easier) in 1/2 of the butter then salt and pepper well. (NOTE - Do NOT cover pan yet).
  • have your potatoes and carrots already peeled and chunked into healthy meaty portions.
  • have your onion diced into small peices.
  • Take out pork chops with tongs and set aside for a moment while you add the onions and rest of butter to pork fat. then add potatoes and carrots (if using) then pork chops add the cup of water and the steak sauce ( the recipe called originally for Worcestershire sauce but I liked the steak sauce better) Put lid on and lock bring to high pressure once pressure is established put timer on for 15 minutes, Then use the regular release method and it is unbelievable a great dinner with soooo much taste in less than 30 minute (including prep if your good with a Knife)
  • let me know if anyone likes it. Serena.

Questions & Replies

  1. I am new to the Power Cooker Plus so what setting do I use on the porkchops?

  2. I. wasn't sure what you meant by "chunked into healthy meaty portions" so I made them about the size of a golf ball. We'll see! Hope they don't turn to mush they're cooking now! Is that about right? I figured right or wrong someone else may have the same question? PammieWe

  1. I have used this recipe for years but without the steak sauce, and lots of onion chunks. I tried it with A-1 steak sauce. I also browned the chops after seasoning them. I have to tell you, it was delicious. I use the regular old fashioned pressure cookers, have three and one large one for canning. Many times I would have all three on the stove. This is a keeper. I also reduced the time so the vegies were done and not soft.

  2. I used this recipe last week for the 1st time using the steak sauce and it turned out great!! So juicy and tender. I seasoned the chops well and used some chicken stock along with the water. My husband and son loved it. The vegetables were full of flavor (a bit soft so next time I'll decrease the time by a few minutes). My teenage son said if vegetables tasted this good he would eat them all the time! Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. I cooked this and the family loved it, the chops fell off the bone. The veggies were a little too soft so maybe 10-12 mins under pressure.

  4. This was my very first recipe with my pressure cooker. Now I know how the Ikea cafe cooks their potatoes - lol. This recipe is wonderful. I was petrified I'd do something wrong and have an explosion in the kitchen. I must've read your directions 150 times. Everything went off flawlessly. I used the carrots and it worked just great.

  5. Great method family really enjoyed it, only gave 4 stars though because it really needs more seasoning. I seasoned chops with salt, pepper, paprika, herbs de provences, garlic powder and onion powder then I browned them. Also I used organic chicken base instead of worcestershire sauce and the gravy I made after cooking was amazing! Even with my changes thank you Serena for submitting this recipe, out of all the ones I googled yours is the only one that sounded good enough to try! I also appreciate the lack of canned soups and instant gravy packets, which aren't fit to consume! Thanks again

Tweaks

  1. Amazing flavor and taste. I usually don't post if I change a recipe, but with this one, I wanted to at least give credit for the ingredients and flavor. I did make a few changes just due to what I had on hand to use. I used parsnips instead of potatoes and I did add carrots too. It tasted great! I sprinkled Montreal steak seasoning in addition to salt/pepper on my pork chops before browning as another similar recipe suggested. I also used Mushroom broth to give it additional flavor (I had some to use up so I thought I'd try it). To me, this recipe is truly one that you can "tweak" but I think the A-1 is a must to give it the flavor. Next time I may try pork chunks instead of chops. I also thought perhaps dredging them in flour before browning to make the juice more like a gravy might be an idea. I guess then this recipe might then be considered a stew. :) But seriously the flavors were amazing!!

  2. This was a definite hit with the family! My father-in-law always said, "don't tweak a recipe until you've tried it first" sorry Dad, I tweaked it. elliebit said something about Lipton Onion Soup Mix and I couldn't help myself! The other tweak was to cook for 10 minutes instead of 12. Next time I'll try cooking it for 8 minutes because the pork was a bit dry for the thickness I prefer. Maybe the setting was supposed to be low instead of high...hmmmmm? Thank you for posting!

  3. I used my pressure cooker for the first time tonight and used this recipe....OMG amazing! I replaced chopped onions with Lipton Onion/Mushroom Soup Mix.......You have to try it!!!! I added the soup mix to the water and stirred before adding to pot. I also used garlic salt instead of table salt. My hubby couldn't get enough, so it's a good thing I only made 4 instead of 6 or 8 as the recipe calls for. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

  4. I used boneless pork chops and cooked the potatoes and carrots separate. I cooked the onions with the pork chops in the pressure cooker. I also used olive oil instead of butter and it was delicious!

RECIPE SUBMITTED BY

I Love to cook. I started first by getting all of my moms old family recipes and then my favorites continued by passed on recipes of friends and old co workers and I put them all in the computer ONE BY ONE in catigories, tedious but worth it cause now I have THE best cookbook ever. Almost every recipe in my book is tried and true. Now I have a new book I am making myself. I am trying out the Pressure Cooking arena and the Canning also. I hope to learn a lot.
