"My sister-in-law served these beans at a family gathering and I couldn't resist getting the recipe. They are yummy...I like to serve them with ham, or just by themselves with a salad and crusty bread..."

  1. I don't think this really needs vinegar. Other than that, it was great! Dress the top with some crispy crumbled bacon....PERFECTION! :-)

  2. My dear next door neighbor of 27 years gave me this recipe before I even moved in next door! It's a really tasty crowd pleaser. Will be taking it to a pot-luck this weekend.

  3. This is a great recipe that my husband loves. The only change I made was using jut 2 teaspoons white vinegar and an envelope of green onion dip mix. It's a keeper

  4. This was Good.. I left out the butter.. and since I didn't have onion soup mix I used a package of green onion dip mix :) It turned out well. I also added a touch of liquid smoke. I put it in the crock pot for a few hours on low.

(As many of you know Silent Cricket passed away on Feb. 29. Since she loved Recipezaar so much and so many on Recipezaar have shown their love for her, and have enjoyed her recipes, her personal information will remain here indefinitely just as she wrote it. Her lines at the end of this section sound somewhat prophetic as the last chapter of her earthly existence has been written.) Well, the time has come for me to change my users' name. After being, "OzCoMartha" because of having lived for three years in Australia and then moving to Colorado, I have decided to "turn over a new leaf." I chose this name because many moons ago I used to be able to "chirp" like a cricket and the "silent" refers to the present time when I'm taking a break...But, perhaps after a season, however long I decide that needs to be, I may be back and then I will fill in more details about myself...
