Scotch Eggs

"What a quick easy appetizer or snack. These go great when we go camping and are super right out of the freezer. Just pop them in the toaster oven and you have a great quick snack. These are also great warm or cold with a little homemade mustard. WARNING - Some of my friends say they can hear their arteries hardening while eating them...LOL Have fun!"

  1. Ie made this with my wife twice now the first time was for a party and sorry thy were greasy blobs that people would try then put down. Too big and WAY to greasy. Second time we made changes 3 batches of 4 each , adding syrups to the sausage salt and pepper and spices. This time they were baked. YUMTASTIC ! once the issue of overly engorging the with oil is stopped it becomes a flavor full meal 2 per person . As an appetizer or party food I would cut them into halves and try serving this way. But do skip deep frying sausage has more than enough all on its own.

  2. I use turkey sausage and bake these for a healthier option. We make these with all those boiled Easter Eggs that you have no desire to eat in the quantity that you have. It is the best use for them I have ever found.

  3. I haven't tried the recipe but I put it in the recipe builder for ww with turkey sausage and baking and it's only 8 pts

  4. These are incredibly rich! Each one is a meal in itself. It took me quite a while to make these (maybe I'm slow) but well worth it. Thanks for posting!

  5. I am so geeked out to try making these, I used to work at a Ren Faire and would get these all the time. At least there I was walking around enough to work them off!

Tweaks

  1. These were great! I tweaked it by using Italian breadcrumbs instead of panko bread crumbs, because they are a bit more flavorful (though you do lose the added crunch the panko provides).

Hi, my friends all call me Zero. I'm a 39 year old stay at home Dad. I'm recently disable through an accedent that has left my foot incapacitated. So now I get to stay home all day and create wonderful dishes for my lovely wife and kids. It's not all that bad staying home, I just wished the laundry folded itself...LOL
