  • In a large pan, fry the bacon pieces until browned and crisp.
  • Add the hominy, salt and pepper and cook stirring constantly 6-7 minutes.
  • Add green onions and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.

  1. WOW!!!! I think I actually went back for 4ths!!! Finally a veggie that DH and I can both agree on. 2 yr old DD was not a big fan but I don't think she cares for hominy in the first place. This is a once-a-week side for us now.
     
  2. I have a question - do you drain the bacon grease from the skillet or cook the hominy and green onions and bacon with the grease?
     
  3. Gotta love it! How can you go wrong with bacon AND hominy. Glad I found something that wasn't posole. My husband is beginning to enjoy hominy as much as I do and pairing hominy with the bacon did so much. Thanks for the great post.

  5. Bacon and hominy, what’s there not to love? I sauté onions in the bacon fat and add in, wonderful. Even the wife that turns up her nose to all my “Southern Cooking” loves ‘em.
