- 1 (2 -3 lb) boneless chuck roast
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 medium celery rib, chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- 1⁄2 cup all-purpose flour
- 12 hamburger buns, warmed
directions
- 1. Sprinkle chuck roast with garlic salt.Place roast in the bottom of a greased 3 1/2-4 quart slow cooker. Top with onion and celery.
- 2. Combine brown sugar,ketchup, lemon juice,Worchestershire sauce,vinegar, and liquid smoke in a small bowl. Pour over meat.Cover and cook on low 8 hours,or until beef is tender. Remove meat from cooker and place on cutting board.
- 3. Ladle 1/4 cup of liquid from slow cooker into a small bowl. Add flour and whisk until smooth. Stir flour mixture into sauce in slow cooker.Shred beef with fork and return to slow cooker. Cook on high 30 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.
