Southern Barbecued Bean Casserole

"This is a great recipe that you can double or tripple with no problems. Also as a barbecue side it leaves you free to make your other dishes as it slow cooks for 2 hours."

  1. Very delicious and easy to make. I will cut back on the brown sugar next time.

  2. Too sweet. Basically meatloaf with beans and more of a babecue sauce. It's an OD of sugar- so cut back. Also more bay leaves and a little chili powder can pique it up a little.

  3. This was a very good casserole, made it for our pulled pork weekend. Just as I was about to put it in the oven , i got a phone call, asking if they could bring two more with them, of course i said yes, and added a can of rinsed red kidney beans and a can of Primo spicy red pepper tomatoes. It turned out a little hotter than expected but was enjoyed by all, not a drop left!!I also cut the sugar in half, we loved the combination of flavours and it certainly was a great complementary dish with the pulled pork!! Thanks for sharing Di, have no doubt, we will enjoy these again! I made them the night before and reheated them in the microwave, which worked great.
