  1. Was this ever filling and very good, everyone liked it!! I used 1/2 cup gr. peppers because of the kids. Inez thank you for sharing. UPDATE:(6-7-02) This time I used the full cup of gr. pepper and it so good. Kids did not say a word about to many peppers. The green peppers really enhance the taste of this dish.

  2. Hey! I added this recipe to my cookbook quite a while ago, and today I needed a recipe that was quick, so I tried it. I had to change a few things in cooking it: instead of using a 15 oz can of tomato sauce I actually used a 26 oz jar of Barilla Marinara pasta sauce. It isn't a thick sauce- it is chunky with the tomatoes. So, I still got a tomato flavor along with chunks of tomato! As for the water needed to cook this, I have no idea how much I had to use. I used 1 and 1/4 cup rice (probably a little less than a 1/4) and it took SO long to cook on the stove! I used at least 3 cups of water total. That was ok though...it turned out great! Also, when I was looking for a good recipe, I was thinking of some form of tacos and little did I know, this recipe was a hit using hard taco shells and toppings of choice. I didn't have it that way, but my brother just looked at the food and said, "Is that for tacos?" So, I pulled out the shells and he and my dad had them as tacos. They loved them. So, I am definitely going to make this again! I loved the onion and green peppers- lots of good flavor! I am thinking about adding more spices next time (new ones) like chili powder or something. Who knows! Thanks for sharing! Bec

  4. For some unknown reason in all my years of cooking I never made Spanish Rice. This recipe is easy and my family loved it!!

  5. I tried this recipe because it looked similar to this "Maggi" recipe we like and thought it would be more healthy as it isn't overly processed like that. I used a bit more water because I used more rice (I only have metric measuring cups!) and the tomato sauce was a bit under 15oz. We liked it very much, my DH liked it more than I did, going back for seconds and having the leftovers later on. I think that I will add more mustard next time to give it more of a kick but that is only thing I would change about what I did.

  1. Very fast and yummy! I used 2 red peppers instead of the green (what my garden had for me) and a can of Rotel-style tomatoes instead of the tomato sauce. I think next time I'll use the sauce too, as it wasn't quite as tomato-y as I wanted. But still very yummy! My husband simply added ketchup, which is how he grew up eating stuffed peppers. Thanks for the recipe!

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
