  1. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over a medium heat until crisp. Add the olive oil to the pan along with the onion and garlic. Cook until the onion has softened then stir in the garlic, fennel seed, thyme leaves, pear and cabbage.
  2. Saute for 10 minutes until the cabbage is slightly softened. Add in the remaining ingredients and cover with a lid and turn down to low heat and cook for 40 minutes.
  3. Uncover and serve warm.
