Splenda Fresh Cranberry Orange Relish

"This recipe has been in our family for years. I can't imagine a traditional holiday dinner without this on the table!I started making this with splenda instead of sugar for my father, who was a diabetic. We sometimes use the pecans, but feel free to leave them out and make this alot lower in calories."

directions

  • Wash the cranberries and set aside.
  • Wash the oranges and do not peel them.
  • Slice each orange into eight sections.
  • Using a food processor, process cranberries and oranges.
  • Stir in splenda. (If using the pecans, add those as well.)
  • This can be made the day before, just keep it chilled until ready to serve.
  • I have also made this and served it as soon as it was made. Either way, this is delicious!

Reviews

  1. I love this recipe, but I add a small can of crushed pineapple and a whole apple. I won't use Spenda but I add sugar to taste. This freezes great.

  2. I've never made my own cranberry relish before, but now I don't know why not because this was so easy and tasty!! Love that it uses splenda instead of sugar as well!

  3. Since I just found out this year that I am diabetic, made this as an additional cranberry dish today for Thanksgiving. Everyone tried it and raved over it. I guess I have a new way of doing Cranberry Sauce. Thanks!

  4. I use the addition of lemon gelatin. Sometimes I will throw in half a cup of pomegranate kernels.

  5. 1. I always cook my cranberry relish on the stovetop. Odd this recipe doesn’t include heat to break down the cranberries and incorporate the sugar better. 2. The nuts would just get soggy and no one likes mushy nuts! Lol

Tweaks

  1. The original Ocean Spray recipe called for 3/4 - 1 cup sugar for one bag of cranberries and one orange. I use 3/4 cup Truvia Blend instead of 2 cups Splenda in this recipe. The relish is as sweet as my family likes it.

  2. I added other ingredients.
