Questions & Replies

  1. Do you use all purpose flour? Was unsure since recipe did not call for any baking power or soda.

  2. This recipe does not specify the TYPE of flour. All-purpose or self-rising?

  1. This is a good recipe. I like to use 1 tsp of almond extract and also add 1 tsp of vanilla. it gives the cookies a great flavor.

  2. This is an excellent recipe. They have such a great almond flavor. The only thing different that I did was to use a few drops of food coloring instead of the sugar. This one is definately going into my cookbook of favorite cookies.

  3. Spritz are a tradition for my family and over the years we have tried various recipes. I have modify my recipe based on our favorite three. Instead of one egg, I use 3 egg yolks. And I use 1 1/4 c. powdered sugar. Bake at 375° for 5 minutes on parchment and let cool on the sheet. They turn out melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!!

  4. The best spritz cookie! Worked great in the cookie press. I also followed the suggestion of 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp almond extract.

  5. Ok y'all I made these cookies and they're WONDERFUL... if you're getting dry spritz cookies it could be you're doing what I was... overbaking. Lots of recipes say to bake golden brown. with these cookies, don't do that. They were WONDERFUL... thanks caryn!!

Tweaks

  1. My mom wouldn't let Christmas go by without these! Try adding green food coloring...and Mint flavoring and colored sprinkles for cute Christmas trees, That's my plan for today!

  2. My first successful spritz with my cookie press. I used 1 t vanilla and 1 t orange extract instead of the almond extract, to avoid nut allergy issues. Based on the directions in for my Pampered Chef cookie press, I used the dough immediately, rather than chilling. Next time, I'll only bake one sheet at a time - the sheet on the bottom rack browned too much. The flavor is good, the texture is great, and the dough was easy to work with. Thanks for sharing! Edited to add: For my second batch, I used 2 t orange extract. Even better than the first batch!

  3. This is an excellent recipe. They have such a great almond flavor. The only thing different that I did was to use a few drops of food coloring instead of the sugar. This one is definately going into my cookbook of favorite cookies.

  4. I add a bit more sugar to the recipe and use vanilla instead of almond flavor. Use different color cherries (green and red) and colored sugar on top to decorate. Has been a family tradition for years!!

  5. Great cookie. My kids loved making them and eating them! I used orange extract instead of the almond.
