directions

  • Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Place butter and sugar in large bowl of electric stand mixer and beat until light in color. Add egg and milk and beat to combine. Put mixer on low speed, gradually add flour, and beat until mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl. Divide the dough in half, wrap in waxed paper, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Sprinkle work surface with powdered sugar or flour. Remove 1 wrapped pack of dough from refrigerator at a time, sprinkle rolling pin with powdered sugar or flour, and roll out dough to 1/4-inch thick. Cut into desired shape, place at least 1-inch apart on greased baking sheet, parchment, or silicone baking mat, and bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are just beginning to turn brown around the edges, rotating cookie sheet halfway through baking time. Let sit on baking sheet for 2 minutes after removal from oven and then move to complete cooling on wire rack. Serve as is or ice as desired. Store in airtight container for up to 1 week.

i just got engaged to the man i've had a crush on since 1st grade. i'm a homemaker and help my father raise my 12 year old sister. it's so weird to see her go through what i went through just 8 years ago! we lost my mother a couple of years ago so that's when i taught myself to cook. i never got a chance to learn before because she insisted she cooked. i love cooking & i suppose i'm somewhat of a foodie. i LOVE the food network & i LOVE trying new recipes even more! i have a siamese mix cat named who. she's about a year now and i've raised her from birth. she's quite exceptional & one of a kind. when i'm in the kitchen she's never too far away. but neither is my pomerainian fred. he's a little over 5 months old and much more trouble than the cat! i guess i'm here for people who are more like me as i don't seem to fit in with my friends anymore because i'm more interested in trying that great new recipe with my little sister than going to that party on friday.
