  • Cream butter and sugar; add egg; sift in dry ingredients.
  • Add vanilla, nuts, and apples.
  • Bake in 8" square pan for 35-40 minutes.
  • Serve with topping of whipped cream or ice cream.

  3. I made this for houseguests. Substituted oil for the butter because one guest had an allergy to dairy products. I used Fuji apples. Was not sure of the baking temperature so I used 350 degrees and baked it for about 50 minutes. This cake was delicious and simple to make. It tasted even better the second day. I would consider doubling the recipe.

  5. Very nice with whipped cream. A tad too sweet so I'd reduced the sugar the next time. Love the recipe as it does not use that much butter.
