Made this for lunch today.I always used green beans in it,never thought of using peas. But the kids seemed to like it much better this way.No little piles of green things on the side of the plates.lol I used grated co-jack cheese(8 oz bag) instead of the slices. And added some garlic and onion to the beef.Fast, easy and tasty!

I love this, I did add a few things though. Into the raw meat I added about 3/4 cups each of diced onion, thin sliced carrot, thin sliced celery, 1 fresh jalapeno diced, 8 oz chopped fresh mushrooms, garlic powder and some rosemary. Pressed the raw (very lean) meat into the pan. I also added 1 cup of shredded cheddar on top of the peas then placed on the taters. I baked like it states and added more sliced cheese toward the end. This is a definate keeper!

i would say this is a 4.5 star recipe. very easy to make and really yummy! only thing i did differently is i used fresh green beans instead of the peas and used shredded cheddar on top. will really be making this again, thanks for sharing! Ok this is 5 stars for sure. I make it all the time now and have used fresh cauliflower in place of the peas also, YUM! For anyone with kids who dont like veggies, it just hides and you really dont know its there. Also I made this with turkey and it tasted just as good as the beef.

My mother gave me this recipe years ago, but we use round steak instead of hamburger. After I cook the steak in a little butter in a skillet (season to taste), I put the steak in a baking dish, mix in a can of cream of mushroom and one half can of milk. Then I add the tots (already cooked) and add shredded cheddar cheese instead. My family & friends love it.

I'm a high school music teacher, turned elementary music teacher, who is also a mom. My evenings are busy -- I teach piano and voice lessons one evening a week, direct the youth choir at our church on another night, and sing with a professional chamber choir here in Pittsburgh on yet another night, so I'm always looking for quick-fix meals. I love to bake too, much to the delight of my daughters, but not my husband, who loves sweets, but is very health-conscious! It would be great to have a week of free time to make all the delicious recipes I find here on 'Zaar. Not sure who I'd find to help me eat them, but I'd do it anyway!
