directions

  • Fry sausage and crumble.
  • Generously spray vegetable oil on a muffin tin. Press biscuits into 5 holes to form a cup with edges extending out of top.
  • Evenly divide crumbled sausage to each biscuit-formed cup. Beat egg with milk. Spoon 1 tablespoon of egg mixture over sausage. Add 1 tablespoon of salsa onto sausage. Top each with shredded cheese. To prevent any spills, place muffin tin on top of a cookie sheet pan while baking.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 17 minutes or until done.
  • Note: Can be easily doubled. Purchase another 10.2 oz can of 5 biscuits. (The larger size only has 8 biscuits per can.) For best results use Grands size biscuits only.

Questions & Replies

  1. I’m confused. This recipe says there are 5 to a can of biscuits but there are 6 biscuits shown in the pictures. Please explain why there is a difference? Thank you.

  1. I have been making these for over 40 years. You can also do a barbecue style using ground turkey and 1 cup good quality barbecue sauce. 1 cup diced onion sweet or red. Grands are the best they have a new one just like the Hawaiian rolls. Really good. If not in your area yet buttermilk is the best. Use extra sharp cheddar cheese. Cook turkey meat or hamburger in onions till lite pink. Drain hamburger grease important. Put in barbecue sauce and heat 15 min or longer for flavors to develop. 375 oven preheated. Press into well greased on sprayed pan. Add meat mixture. Cook 25-30 minutes. Then take out sprinkle cheese on top put back in oven 5-7 minutes till melted and bubbling. 2 per person with a salad.

  2. I'm not going to leave any stars because in all fairness I didn't follow the recipe, exactly. I didn't have the ingredients required so subbed with what I had. Here's what I did... I used the Grand Biscuits and topped them with eggs and cheese and baked just like the recipe instructions . They were delicious prepared as the recipe instructed! Then I made a cream gravy with some leftover grilled kielbasa sausage I had and poured that over the biscuits. It was a great and easy recipe but I took so many liberties with the ingredients and cooking instructions I can't review this great recipe as posted. I TOTALLY LOVED IT THOUGH!!!

  3. I found these a little lack luster. Cooking time off as well. Need extra time. With some tweaking could possibly be better.

  4. These were really good! I made them for lunch today. They were very quick and easy to make. I will definitely be making these often!

  5. I gave this 3 stars. I made these for my family Sunday big breakfast. My family really liked these. I had to make a few minor changes to the recipe. I first doubled the recipe as I only had 1 pound frozen sausage. I didn't have Grand bisuits so I took 2 regular biscuits and put them together. My muffin tin is a smaller size so I could not use all of the sausage so I filled the biscuits up as full as I could with sausage. The rest I did the as directed. My biscuits did take a extra 5 minutes but this could be my oven. Overall this was a good recipe and we will have them again. Thanks for posting this recipe. Christine (internetnut)

Tweaks

  1. Do not use only a half biscuit. I/2 biscuit will not hold up. Full size only. You can also sub 1 pd ground turkey meat or good quality 1 lb hamburger for lunch or dinner or snacks. I have also used mild Italian sausage. Grand has a sweet Hawaiian biscuit. Family and friends raved about them.
