  • Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Cook for 5 minutes, remove from heat and cool. Creat together the butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy. Stir in sifted flour, baking powder and salt, alternating with milk and beat until smooth. Pour into an 8 inch square baking pan. Spoon the fruit (fruit only) from the saucepan mixture over the batter and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Pour the fruit JUICE from the saucepan mixture over the top of the brown sugar. Bake for 45-50 minutes at 375 degrees.
  • Serve this while warm and it makes it extra delicious if served with whipped topping or ice cream!

  1. I think you peel and slice the apples. The recipe doesn't say but if you spoon the fruit over the batter, I think it is slices or is it diced to make a quick applesauce over the batter?
