directions

  • In a large mixing bowl, tear the burgers into pieces and add diced celery and seasonings. Toss and add chicken broth. Toss well. Stuff cavity of turkey just before roasting. Makes about 9 cups (enough for a 10- to 12-pound turkey). Note: Allow 1 hamburger for each pound of turkey, which will be the equivalent of 3/4 cup of stuffing per pound.

Questions & Replies

  1. How does this dish represent Illinois as our state's Thanksgiving dish? (I have never heard of this dish nor have any other Illinois residents I've met)... Exactly who is this for? Because it's pretty insulting; this is hardly what I'd call a recipe.

Reviews

  1. I am from Illinois. This is embarrassing to see that our state Thanksgiving must have is a White Castle stuffing.

  2. I could not agree more with Karl M. Why not chop up a deep dish pizza? Supposedly we love that too even though I have only eaten it once in 59 years when I visited Chicago.

  3. Added some fresh cranberries on top for a festive look!
