Zatarain's Copycat Crab Boil Mix

"Zatarains was the real thing and boxes of it were found in just about every home in New Orleans. We also like to add 2-3 lemons, quartered, to the water. This is enough for 5lbs shrimp or a dozen blue swimmers."

  1. Very good recipe. Tastes like Zatarains. Just cooked up a couple pounds of shrimp with it for dinner. Would 100% recommend this

  2. Wow! I'd never heard of a crab boil mix until it asked for it in a shrimp cocktail recipe. Who knew this was the real Cajun way to prepare shrimp? Very tasty stuff. Thank you for posting your recipe and saving me a trip to the store.

  3. This is a great blend! Can't get the Zatarain's brand here, and this was just as good! Adding it to my recipe box! Thanks for posting!

  4. Trying this today. I have come close to the bottom of my 32oz jar of Zatarain's Crab/Shrimp boil and any Zatarain's product is almost impossible to find here SOB in Jalisco, Mexico. If you do find it, the price will blow you away. I can now take the 4 quarts I was going to order on Amazon for a "mule" to smuggle over the border. Gracias.

Originally from New Orleans; are we food obsessed or what?? Sent to boarding school at a very young age where our major gripe was the food, of course. I swore never to eat stuff I did not like ever again. Life is too short for that nonsense. Its easier to list dislikes than likes/loves, so: Curry (every poverty stricken third world country reeks of curry, yuk!) Eggplant anything (I don't care how fancy you disguise aubergine, its still slimy eggplant). Pumpkin anything (I hear its good food for pigs...give 'em my share). Brussel sprouts (who in hell decided these were fit for human consumption?)
