Country Bumpkin
@Country Bumpkin
Born in Newfoundland, Canada 50+ years ago; Grandmother from Scotland/Grandfather from Ireland. I am the only girl of six children. I lost my brother 13 years ago and my two best friends (parents) 8years ago, within 10 months of each other. I still miss them and sometimes pick up the phone to call. (Darn technology still haven't found a phone line to the other side). I now live in a small out port near St. John's, Newfoundland I left "The Rock" shortly after finishing high school and spent the best part of two decades in Ontario, mainly Toronto. I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia , so these days my life more or less revolves around coping and priorities. The area where I live is isolated (population of about 250-300 people + lots & lots of animals) so it's only within the 7 years or so that we have internet connection. Before CFS attacked, I was in development planning and a very active volunteer in the community as well as provincial politics. Though I love country living I sometimes bemoan the inconveniences and small town mentality. Most days it's worth it just to look out the window at open space and the ocean. I love to cook and will try just about any recipe. No real dislikes when it comes to food, just hate packages and canned, with a few exceptions. I love all forms of music (except hip-hop/rap), but find basic country, jazz, blues and classic most soothing. I have a great sense of humour and thoroughly enjoy the humorous posts on ZAAR. I try and keep my mind active (scrabble, crosswords, puzzles), all of which have fallen by the wayside since I found socializing on the net, just traded one way of keeping my mind active with another, I guess! I am an avid, bordering on obsessive, reader and so lucky to have a well stocked community library a few doors from my house. I always enjoyed gardening, but CF/FS limits my doing so at the moment, however I am trying to start up a greenhouse (still in planning stage.) My son and I both love animals (detest cruelty in any form to animal or person) and presently have an adopted family of 10 stray cats that come and go, mostly come!! I am a neat freak about anything to do with my kitchen and laundry, but lackadaisical about the rest of the house - I reach on it when I can. Have a long list of pet peeves, the top 2 being people who don't look after our planet and hidden agendas/lies.
