I've always loved to cook as long as I can remember. Since the birth of my daughter my cooking has taken a more health-conscious turn, in part due to wanting to get back to my pre-pregancy weight and in greater part to set an example for my daughter and get her on the path to healthy eating for life. My favorite source of recipes is by far Cooking LIght magazine. I turn to its pages time and time again. I often forget that the recipes are engineered to be healthy. They're delicious, fail-proof, and so often worthy of being served to guests - even those not keeping track of the nutritional profile. I'm a deconess at my church and a discussion leader with MOPS International and these activities provide lots of opportunities to provide meals for others. I enjoy caring through providing healthy meals. I recently chaperoned my church youth group on a trip to Creation East music festival and enjoyed being their camp cook, mom, and medic. I consider it a high honor to get a complement from a teenager on my cooking. Of course the highest honor is the approval I receive daily from my 2-year-old and my husband. I'm thrilled that my daughter would rather have my cooking than eat fast food. I seem to have the opposite problem that other parents of toddlers have. I'm enjoying RecipeZaar and have found wonderful recipes and community here.
