  1. I made this with a whole small head of red cabbage on the stove and i liked it. My family is not a fan of sweet things so i cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup. Hopefully they don't think it is too sweet. I also used a little more than a cup of apple juice.

  2. Hubby loves smoked sausage, apples and cabbage so I thought this was a perfect dish and it was!!! He loved it!!! I only had cocktail smokies and they were fine. I got a late start and so I cooked on high for 4 hours. After 3 hours the original apple juice had disappeared and I had to add more apple juice. Next time I'll start with a cup of Apple Juice. Thanks for posting!!!

  3. Oh boy!! Talk about a winner dinner! Delicious. I used garlic smoked sausage and only 1 huge Envy apple. I couldn't stop eating the leftovers also. Will make this one again and again.

  4. This was good. I'm thinking I may have cooked it a little too long? Everything turned dark. I like apples but the juice & the apple slices together gave it to much of an apply flavor. I may try beef broth next time instead of the juice. All in all, my family was complimentary.

  5. I might have made a mistake by cooking it overnight for 8 hours, then after that the pot cut back to warm so that might be why it was a bit dry and the sausage was over cooked. I think it would be better cooking less time and using apple juice concentrate instead of juice. It has promise but, not the way I cooked it.

My name is Nita and I am a 50 y/o grandmother of 3 beautiful children; a 13 y/o granddaughter, a 11 y/o grandson, and an 5 y/o old grandson. My daughters are 34 and 22. Yikes! Where did the years go?? I rescue wolves and have 4 of my own...my big ole furbabies. I've placed appx 30 wolves in wonderful forever homes. Hobbies include cooking/baking, reading, gardening, writing poetry and short stories, and collecting angels, lighthouses and teapots...just to name a few. One of my passions is doing my part to take care of our natural environment and one of my pet peeves...hmm...that's a tough one...ok, 2 of my pet peeves are people who litter and people who talk loudly on cell phones while eating in a restaurant or shopping in supermarkets (give us a break, folks...at least lower your voices!). I love trying new recipes and meeting people. I'm a real nature nut and adore animals, having had some very "unique" pets. I love camping, fishing and picnics. I lived in Texas for 25 yrs but have recently moved back to my hometown in Oklahoma to be near Mom. She's elderly and her health isn't good, so it was time. Through the grace of God Mom and I are now neighbors! It broke my heart to leave my two girls and their families on the coast in Texas although knowing I'm where I need to be at this time makes the transition easier. Am very much looking forward to making lots and lots of new friends here at Zaar!
